JEWELRY MAKING WORKSHOPS
Handmade and built from a heritage in jewelry design spanning 14 years, our signature Seville for the People jewelry workshops are a colorful and imaginative way to share in the fun of expressing ourselves. We believe that sharing creativity fosters happiness for a better, and brighter community. Our mission is to curate interactive, and inspiring spaces that engage, challenge and entertain using a variety of upcycled material. By reimagining broken and discarded jewelry parts we aim to teach participants to reimagine possibilities, and redefine creativity as a utility for self improvement.

A SWEET ADVENTURE
By prompting children to talk about their creative choice, it aids in their language development as they are encouraged to find new ways to talk about their projects. Acquiring new descriptive and emotive vocabulary is a vital part of their learning to effectively express themselves—a skill that is fundamental in how well they interact with other people. A project that requires some degree of planning, such as making patterns from candy, choosing colors for a bracelet, or deciding how to make necklace, are all superb for helping children to develop their cognitive skills.

GIRL SCOUTS Troop #84005
After an officer-involved shooting occurred with gang members in Normandie Park, Harbor Gateway the community was left rattled with fear and in dire need of services to uplift and inspire them. Nicole Deering, Community Resource Specialist for the Neighborhood Prosecutors Program, LA City Attorney’s office was inspired to reach out to Girl Scouts of America to launch a troop the girls in the community could be a part of. Together with the LAPD Troop 84005 was born!
Since launching in 2019, the troop is free to join, meets weekly, reciting the Girls Scouts oath of honor. They attend field trips such as exploring museums, participating in beach clean ups, fishing outings and even discover their hidden jewelry design talents in jewelry led workshops.
We have successfully raised over $5,200 for creative development actives, jewelry kits and craft care packages for each Girl Scouts member, and their siblings. We will be using the remaining funds to take all the girls to Yosemite State Park! While we await Safer at Home ordinances to end, we will be taking mother- daughter pairs canoeing in Santa Monica- the perfect warm up to a weekend getaway to Yosemite!
