JEWELRY MAKING WORKSHOPS

Seville for the People is committed to developing compelling lesson plans that center around jewelry design. Our workshops include imaginative material that encourage creative exploration. Our focus is to ignite creativity, laughter and joy by providing fun and challenging ways to explore jewelry design. With an eye that sees the world through an aperture of optimism and possibility, we build fun programs that entertain and inspire. Handmade and built from a heritage in jewelry design spanning 14 years, our signature Seville for the People jewelry workshops are a colorful and imaginative way to share in the fun of expressing ourselves. We believe that sharing creativity fosters happiness for a better, and brighter community.  Our mission is to curate interactive, and inspiring spaces that engage, challenge and entertain using a variety of upcycled material. By reimagining broken and discarded jewelry parts we aim to teach participants to reimagine possibilities, and redefine creativity as a utility for self improvement.

upcycled jewelry making workshop

In celebration of Earth Day at Little Beach House Malibu, Seville Michelle set the stage for an afternoon of inspiration as we explored creative ways to reimagine broken jewelry in celebration of the greatest place in the Universe- planet earth! With an imaginative approach to jewelry design, using a variety of upcycled material, we turned brooches into pendants, necklaces into earrings and bracelets into embellishments. Participants learned the basics of jewelry design.

Testimonials

"Seville arrived early for the program setup, and kept the children and teens who attended captivated for the entire duration of the program. She is a consummate professional, and brought plenty of jewelry, and gummies in fun shapes for the attendees to make their own beautiful candy jewelry. She answered everyone's questions and made everyone feel capable of creating something fun and unique. I cannot recommend Seville enough, and would love to have her back at the Platt Library in the near future."

Jennifer W, Young Adult Librarian Platt Branch - Los Angeles Public Library

Seville was pleasant to work with and her rapport with kids and parents was very good! We requested the Candy Lab program and she came well prepared with plenty of supplies - boxes of delicious smelling gummies, and jewelry pieces (kid-friendly plastic needles, string, earring hoops, etc.). Seville walked through the jewelry making process with the kids and parents. She was patient and generously provided materials to each of them, even the late arrivals. Recommendation: Have hand sanitizer available for participants and baggies ready for kids to pack up their jewelry and leftovers!

Senele G. Rios, Senior Librarian Mark Twain Branch Los Angeles Public Library

"My library booked Seville for a candy jewelry making program for kids. The program was so popular that we didn't have enough seats at one point; by the end of the hour long program, about 120 patrons had attended. Despite how busy things got, Seville remained calm and welcoming toward every child she interacted with. Our patrons left the program with lovely candy bracelets they could eat. This was my first time working with Seville, but I could sense her sincere desire to help kids experience the comfort and joy of creating something as universal but personal as jewelry."

A SWEET ADVENTURE

By prompting children to talk about their creative choice, it aids in their language development as they are encouraged to find new ways to talk about their projects. Acquiring new descriptive and emotive vocabulary is a vital part of their learning to effectively express themselves—a skill that is fundamental in how well they interact with other people. A project that requires some degree of planning, such as making patterns from candy, choosing colors for a bracelet, or deciding how to make necklace, are all superb for helping children to develop their cognitive skills.
